Daffodils
New research from PlantforLife reveals that more than half (56%) of people agree that daffodils in bloom officially mark the beginning of spring, with over a third (36%) ranking daffodils as their favourite spring flower.
However, such strong associations with spring could be the downfall of the daffodil with nearly half (45%) of people mistakenly trying to plant their favourite spring flower in spring, when in fact autumn is the key planting time[1].
With the nation unaware about how and when to plant a spring garden, PlantforLife is championing the daffodil and encouraging Britain to start ‘Digging for daffs’. Teaming up with celebrity plantsman, Chris Collins, PlantforLife want to educate people on when to plant spring bulbs, providing simple tips for a spring garden makeover!
So why not spruce up your garden and inject some colour next spring by to downloading Chris’ top tips on how to grow your own spring bulbs.

Nature's Remedy
Floral and herbal scents have long been recognised for their health and wellbeing benefits, such as memory boosters, stress relievers and stimulants.
Plant forLife research shows that just 12% of people actually plant these scents in their gardens, with a quarter (25%) admitting they wouldn’t know how to use them to benefit their health, if they did grow them. Plant forLife has teamed up with aromacologist, Daniele Ryman and celebrity plantsman, Chris Collins, to offer advice and guidance on the benefits garden plants can bring.
 ActiveLife
Research shows that just 21 minutes of gardening a day can improve your fitness levels. Plant forLife’s ActiveLife campaign supports the Change4Life initiative to show families that planting and eating fruit and vegetables results in healthier eating habits as well as a more active lifestyle.
Plant forLife has joined forces with personal trainer, Kevin Adams and celebrity plantsman Chris Collins. Together they have helped Plant forLife develop a downloadable guide to encourage exercise in the garden and show how to plant your way to 5 a day.
Neighbourhood Crop swap
Neighbourhoods can work together as a community with each growing different fruit and vegetables. It doesn’t matter whether you have a garden, balcony or roof garden, as there is something to suit everyone’s taste and garden space.
Plant forLife aims to show people up and down the country how easy it is to plant and maintain crops and therefore encourage them to plant their own and take part in a neighbourhood swap!
